Place names are the proper names given by people to the natural or human geographical entities in a particular space. They are not only the products of the development of human society, but also the witnesses of regional history. Its formation has a profound geographical, historical and cultural background, which not only reflects the natural, human geography and other environmental characteristics of the region, also records a region’s social changes, national rise and fall, economic activities, national culture,Defense Culture,man-land relationship and other complex cultural landscape information. At the same time, place names bear the historical details and collective memory of a region, which is the concentrated embodiment of local culture and has rich cultural connotation. The region around Dian Lake is one of the cradles of human civilization and has a long history and culture.Dating back to the pre-qin and the northern and southern dynasties,Chu General Qiao entered Yunnan and established Dian Kingdom, which promoted the cultural integration between Central Plain and Dian Lake and created a unique "Dian Culture",military activities such as emigration and opening up wasteland laid the foundation for the military defense culture in the region around Dian Lake. For a long time, many ethnic groups have been living together in the form of "big mixed, small compact communities" in the Dian Lake Area, making the geographical names around the Dian Lake area show diversity. Therefore, this study takes 4,573 settlement names around Dian Lake as the research object, and from a spatial perspective, based on the theory of Cultural Ecology, the theory of man-land relationship and the theory of cultural reproduction,by using the methods of kernel density estimation,eight-quadrant analysis, buffer zone analysis and overlay analysis in the spatial analysis of Arcgis 10.2,the spatial distribution characteristics of various toponymic landscapes in the region around Dian Lake were analyzed, probe into the cultural information reflected in the landscape of place names. The thesis is divided into six chapters: the first chapter is the introduction, which systematically introduces the background and significance of the topic, the current research situation at home and abroad, related concepts and theoretical basis, research methods and research design. The second chapter introduces the Basic Situation of the research area from the natural environment and Human Environment.Chapter III classifies geographical names according to their origin and attributes and carries out statistical analysis of each category. The Fourth Chapter reveals the Spatial Distribution Law of various geographical names according to the spatial distribution status of various geographical names elements. The fifth chapter summarizes the cultural landscape information reflected by the geographical names landscape in the region around Dian Lake.Chapter six draws the following conclusions: 1.Among the geographical names in the region around Dian Lake, the natural geographical names account for 47.85% of the total geographical names in the region around Dian Lake,of which the water names and the mountain names account for 22% and 15.70% respectively Human landscape names account for 52.15% of the total geographical names in the region around Dian Lake, with surname names and economic names accounting for 9.50% and 13.75% respectively.2.The geographical names of natural landscape in the region around Dian Lake are mainly distributed in the northern mountain area of the region, the Bazi area on the northern coast of Dian Lake and the Bazi area on the southern coast of Dian Lake The geographical names of human landscape are mainly distributed in the north and south banks of Dian Lake and Bazi area of Songming County.3.The geographical names in the region around Dian Lake not only reflect the characteristics of the natural and human environment, but also the contradiction of the "man-land" relationship.
