A Study Of Modern Evaluation Forum During The Present Anti Japanese War

Founded in Peiping and republished in Lanzhou,the Forum of Modern Criticism is a comprehensive publication founded by a group of patriotic youth who have broad academic vision.The publication has encountered difficulties and challenges on the way forward,but with the dauntless tenacity,unceasing hard work and struggles of the editors,it forged ahead and successfully embarked on a path during six years of ups and downs.The international and domestic environments faced by China have been complicated and challenging,due to the influence of grim war situation,every footprint of the publication witnessed the evolution of the development of literature and faithfully recorded the unique style of the regional literature of the Anti-Japanese War.It is due to not only the keen insight,open-mindedness and the sense of responsibility and their awareness of their mission,but also their consistent modern cultural beliefs and rational thinking,the editors have published a large amount of wartime literature that highlights regional characteristics in northwest area,which has a great influence on the literature trend of thought,especially after the publication moved to Lanzhou to resume.Modern Criticism itself plays a significant role in the study of literature and art of the Anti-Japanese War in Northwest China.Systematic research on Modern Criticism based on data collection and sorting can save the literature material that has historical value.What’s more,we can also learn about the age,geographical,political and other features of northwest journal during the Anti-Japanese War in order to restore the true state of the area controlled by the Kuomintang and master the culture development of the Northwest Anti-Japanese War more comprehensively.This paper intends to carry out a detailed discussion on the Forum of Modern Criticism,which took place from September 1935 to August 1941.The thesis consists of four chapters.The first chapter further elaborates on the context of the times and the production mechanism of the publication according to its development process,internal operation structure and cultural communication field.The second chapter is based on the literary text of the Anti-Japanese War published after the republication of the Modern Criticism Forum in Lanzhou,and analyzes the relationship between the publication and the northwest literary movement in the early 1940 s.The third chapter briefly describesits special historical contributions about how the publication selflessly support and train new writers,make smart decisions for cultural development and co-establish northwest literary and artistic position to cultural revitalization under the northwest Anti-Japanese War culture scene.And the fourth chapter systematically explores the critical articles that influence the literary creation direction of Modern Criticism.It mainly examines the literary movements and literary debates that took place in Gansu in the early 1940 s from the literary contention presented in such articles,and then probes into the source of the cultural movements,looking for their laws and causes.The author embarks from the journal itself,through mining the role of the Modern Evaluation Forum at the beginning of the Anti-Japanese War culture.And the purpose is to explore the impact in the development of the northwest culture,excavate the generating mechanism of northwest literary and demonstrate the important contribution to Lanzhou literary world after the publication was resumed,with the hope of bringing the Forum of Modern Criticism back into the academic horizon of the researchers and provide reference experience for literature and art ideological trend and periodical research.
