| Nirvana is the highest ideal state of Buddhism and an important subject in Buddhist art.The Nirvana of the Mogao Grottoes experienced the northern Zhou Dynasty,Sui Dynasty,early Tang Dynasty,prosperous Tang Dynasty and Middle Tang Dynasty.As a part of the Buddhist paintings in the early period,it was the last scene of Gautama Buddha’s life.The Sui Dynasty was independent of Buddhism,and formed a mature Nirvana Sutra in the Tang Dynasty,among which the 148 th and 158 th Grottoes of the Tang Dynasty were famous large Nirvana Grottoes.The Mogao Grottoes Nirvana Sutra has changed into a single multi-plot form as well as multiple multi-plot forms.The composition of the images has changed from the early single fresco to a combination of FRESCO,painted sculpture and mural,painted sculpture and architecture,reflects the evolution of Buddhist art in Mogao Caves.In this paper,the relationship between the change of Nirvana Sutra and the cave in Mogao Grottoes is explored from the change of Nirvana Sutra in Mogao Grottoes,this paper analyzes the artistic features of the Nirvana of Mogao Grottoes from the aspects of image composition,picture composition,color line,figure modeling,clothing,environment,painting and sculpture.Buddhism was introduced from India to Central Asia,and great changes have taken place in the process of its spread.The Central Asian grottoes attach great importance to Nirvana.This paper compares and analyzes the Nirvana Sutra changes between Mogao Caves and Kizil Grottoes and Yungang Grottoes Grottoes,and explores the similarities and differences of the same subject in different regions and grottoes and their relations. |
