Paul Hindemith is a well-known German composer and music theorist.This article selects his Concerto for Orchestra composed in 1925 as a research object.Concerto for Orchestra was composed during the Weimar Republic.This is the most culturally prosperous period in German history and is characterized by an art trend called "New Objectivity".The piece also shows clear features of "New Objectivity".In terms of genre,Concerto for Orchestra is very groundbreaking since it is the first case of this genre.Based on the analysis of this piece,the article will have a summary on its style and genre features.The thesis contains three chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the context of this piece,involving Hindemith's early compositional overview,the "New Objectivity" art trend.Also this chapter relates Concerto for Orchestra with Hindemith's Chamber Music of the same period.The second chapter makes a detailed musical analysis of the piece.The third chapter further discusses problems concerning its musical style and genre characteristics on the basis of the second chapter.
