A Report On The Translation Of Unconventional Oil And Gas Resources Handbook Evaluation And Development (Excerpts)

With the development of globalization,EST translation has played an important role.As a branch of EST,petroleum English has a feature of strong logicality with objective content and complicated sentences.Thus,the translator chooses Chapter 1 of the book Unconventional Oil and Gas Resources Handbook Evaluation and Development as the original text.After translating the original text into Chinese,the translator writes a report on the translation process and the reflection of the translation work.This report consists of four parts: task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.During the process of completing this report,the author first accomplished the translation of the original text.Then,under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory,the author gives a brief illustration of the features of English for science and technology in lexical,syntactic and textual perspectives and discusses the problems in the translation of long and complicated sentences and whole text.It is hoped that this report can be a reference for translators who work in the petroleum industry,especially unconventional oil and gas industry field.
