In 2007,Master of Translation and Interpreting(MTI)courses were firstly approved to be set up by 15 colleges and universities with Beijing Foreign Studies University(BFSU),Shanghai International Studies University(SISU)and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies(GDUFS)taking the lead. The past 12 years has witnessed the flourishment of the education of MTI,and the increasing number of MTI students.More relevant researches on translation studies, translation master’s education, etc.have been conducted.Despite this context,MTI interpreting theses themselves have not attracted enough attention, and few scholars have explored this topic from the perspective of MTI interpreting students.Against this background, this report selects MTI students from three foreign studies universities mentioned above as research subject, and took 893 MTI interpreting theses, written by such students and included in CNKI from 2009-2019,as a database.By using CiteSpace,a kind of visual document analysis software, the author of this thesis probes into the development and trend of MTI interpreting theses. Results are presented in the form of knowledge map from several aspects: research hotspots and tendency of MTI interpreting thesis etc.Based on the study, from 2009 to 2019,the MTI interpreting graduates of BFSU,SISU and GDUFS have mainly chosen practice report when they complete their graduate theses.By combining corresponding theories, they have analyzed and discussed the problems or difficulties they encountered in their practice of consecutive or simultaneous interpreting. The most frequently cited theories are the Effort Model, the Interpretive Theory,Skopos Theory, and Relevance Theory. The most discussed topic is coping strategies. But those students have their own research priorities.Students from BFSU have a propensity to conduct comparative analysis of literature;those from SISU are incline to their interpreting practices;and those from GDUFS tend to focus on the analysis of the performance in the context of diversified language service scenarios. In addition, with the development of MTI,more discussions on new topics, including speech recognition, neural machine translation, listening comprehension obstacles, the role of interpreters and interpreter’s subjectivity have been conducted. The author makes a further discussion in the thesis, hoping to enrich future students’ understanding of the development of MTI interpreting theses, and to provide some references and suggestions on their completion of their theses.
