Michael Slote’s "Agent-Based" Virtue Ethics

Michael slote’s "behavior-based" theory of virtue ethics attempts to abandon the Aristotelian tradition of virtue ethics and establish a pure "Agent-based" warm virtue ethics on the basis of absorbing emotivism and feminine solicitude theory.Slote suggest that the moral common sense,kantianism and utilitarianism debased the agent’s moral value and guide its internal inconsistencies,Lack of warm direct concern for the agent,from the symmetry "The self is symmetrical to others”,He also think that Aristotle’s virtue ethics lack of common concern of mankind.Therefore he aims to build a theory based solely on the agent and his virtues.This theory holds that people’s moral behavior is mainly derived from the self-acting behavior of people who are in the emotional cause of caring for others,to emphasize the relationship of caring as the foundation of morality,Thus,it develops into a caring ethics based on the agent,which can contain the universal humane care and satisfy the self-care.Such a concern is an empathetic concern for the state of others,caring is empathy,which forms the basis of moral approval and moral character.This "Agent-based" theory has also been criticized by the academic community.Michael slote mainly responded to the criticism that he could not distinguish the right action from the right action for the right reasons and could not satisfy the "should" which implies "can".
