In recent years,China’s comprehensive national strength has been steadily improved,and the attraction of Chinese language and Chinese culture to foreign language learners has gradually increased.I have the honor to come to University of technology Mara,a public university in Malaysia,to serve as a Chinese teacher through the volunteer program for Chinese teachers of Hanban.Malaysia attaches great importance to the Chinese language.In addition,of the Chinese education system in Malaysia,vocabulary teaching and learning play an important role.Based on my one-year teaching experience in University of technology Mara and related theories of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,this paper discusses the application of Pictuere-plus-Text Illustration Vocabulary Teaching Method in adult Chinese learners’ vocabulary acquisition,with a view to providing enlightenment for later teaching and research.This paper is divided into six chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the research background and related theoretical basis to provide a detailed theoretical support for the later discussion;the second chapter introduces the basic situation of University of Technology Mara,Machang campus,and introduces the Chinese teaching situation of the campus,including the situation of Chinese teachers,learners,teaching materials and Chinese courses.The third chapter is the application strategy of the method in teaching practice.This chapter divides the two-mode interpretation into static pictures or real objects,dynamic video or GIFs,teachers’ body language,charts plus text interpretation methods,and discusses them in different categories.The second part of this chapter is the application strategy in different teaching procedures.Chapter four analyzes the effects of two-mode interpretation teaching accordingto the final examination of students in zero-basis Chinese class.Chapter five puts forward four Suggestions on the application of the two-mode interpretation model of pictures in Chinese vocabulary teaching,including proper selection of teaching media such as pictures,proper use of example sentences to explain the meaning of words,reasonable arrangement between pictures and words,and the use of forgetting rules to improve the memory effect.Chapter six is the conclusion of this paper.
