With the the economic development and social changes in China,community is no longer just a concept of population or geographical scope,it also carries the functions of management,service,guarantee,education,safety and stability.The goal of constructing community social organization is to give full play to community functions,enrich community culture,build interactive platforms and promote harmonious community atmosphere.Community elderly organization is a social organization mainly made up with elderly residents in the community.The cultivation and development of community elderly organization are positive response to aging,which is conducive to improving the sense of happiness of the elderly.In addition,it plays an important role in strengthening the construction of community governance system,pushing the center of social governance down to the grassroots units,and creating a social governance pattern of co-construction,co-governance and sharing.Because the cultivation of community social organizations started later in China,there are less social work professionals,imperfect system and policy,less attention to elderly participation,less research content,less practical material,which could result in many problems in development of community elderly organizations.Thus it is difficult to guarantee the effects of community organizations cultivation for elderly residents.This study took the project on community elderly organization cultivation as a case study,which conducted by a volunteer station at S community in Chengdu City,Sichuan Province.The practical approaches to cultivate and develop the community elderly organizations were investigated through intervening the group work and the planning,implementation and evaluation of the concerned activities.The first-hand data were collected by probing into the elderly organization,participating in various activities,and communicating with other social workers in the institution and members of community elderly organizations.The effects of intervention in community elderly organization cultivation were analyzed by combining the author's internship experiences and knowledge acquired at universities,as well as what had be observed and heard in daily life and work.The group work involved in this paper were divided into two parts of team fellowship group and the training group,which were designed and implemented according to the specific conditions of the volunteer station team.The team fellowship group activities wereheld for three times,with the main purpose of enhancing team cohesion and community sense of belonging.The training group activities were held for four times,which aimed to enhance the level and quality of team volunteer service through the training of professional knowledge and skills.This paper recorded,analyzed and summarized these two parts of work,and discussed them at the end.The results shows that group work is an effective way to solve the development problems of community elderly organizations,which has obvious advantages in improving the cohesion of community elderly organizations and enhancing the ability of team work.It is also an important way to promote the social participation of elderly residents and boost the spirit of "have sth to do when one gets old".
