Curling in China has benefited from the implementation of the “whole nation system”.It has attracted worldwide attention in the past 20 years, and has achieved remarkable success in the international arena. But in contrast with the vigorous development of our curling sports, the lagging behind the cultivation of curling athletes is seriously restricting the further development of curling in China. Therefore,it is imperative to study the cultivation modes of Chinese curling reserve talents. This article mainly adopts the expert interview method, the participation observation method and the comparative analysis method,Many famous domestic ice curling teams have been inspected, and many experts in curling are interviewed.Through the research and comparison of three modes of professional sports teams,“the combination between sports and education” and the clubs, the following conclusions can be drawn:1.The general characteristics of curling development in China is the rapid development and outstanding performance of athletic curling project, but the mass base of curling is weak, the reason is that development of Chinese curling is faced with the limited venue resources, the prominent contradiction between study and sport, limited curling tournament, coach resource shortage, deficiency of curling research and other aspects of the problem.2.At the present stage,Chinese curling reserve talents cultivation includes three main modes—professional sports teams,“the combination between sports and education” and the clubs.Through 4 factors in competitive sports as the dimension, these three modes are compared: Selection of athletes, professional sports teams exert the typical “three level cultivation network”,“the combination between sports and education” do the trial selection from college students, the clubs accept social participate rather than professional selection;Training, professional sports teams adopt 6 and a half days training method combined with teaching match,“the combination between sports and education”arrange flexible training for students but put good importance on matches, the clubs do the training on the principle of fostering interests;Match, professional sports teams hold the dominant position in the domestic arena,“the combination between sports and education” does not emphasize the competition but also has much achievement, the clubs make chance for the athletes to participate in competitions on amateur and semi professional level;Competitive sports management, generally, professional sports teams are organized directly by the local sports bureau,“the combination between sports and education” builds “Council” management method, the clubs are organized by the local sports bureau or curling association.3.The three modes of Chinese curling reserve talents respectively adapt to the environment and region, and accordingly reflect the unique values of the respective advantages and disadvantages: the professional sports teams are effective and efficient in cultivation of athletic curling talents, but there exists the prominent contradiction between study and sport;“the combination between sports and education” is suitable for College physical education in developed regions, paying great attention to the all-round development but causing poor sport cultivation;the clubs are suitable for regions where there is good curling mass base, being the necessary implement for the other two modes on the cultivation of basic level curling reserve talents.4.In the promotion process of three modes, the rules of the development of Chinese curling should be respected, the principle of diversified development should be adhered to,the promotion should be concerned on combination between study and sport, treatment policy,“training by matches” and other aspects of the modes.
