Since the reform of medical marketization in the 1990s,hospitals have become a self-financing economic organization.The state's policy of "taking medicine to support doctors" has led doctors to prescribe more medicines and over-medical care,leading interest conflicts between doctors and patients,and patients' low trust to the doctors.The patient chooses to achieve their medical benefits through taking medical assistance by guanxi.This article selected the A hospital in Hunan Province as the research site,the patient who experienced medical assistance by guanxi as the case,and the relational network theory as the theoretical perspective.This article is based on the patient's understanding of the situation of medical treatment,the motivation for choosing to seek medical treatment through guanxi,the process of searching for and using relationships,and the effects of using guanxi,explains the logic of the patient's behavior.The medical situation of large-scale hospitals is institutionalized scene separated from the acquaintance society..The characteristics of doctor-patient relationship make patients in a vulnerable position.At the same time,doctors' over-medical treatment make patients distrust doctors(hospitals)and patients to doctors(Hospital)'s low level of trust leads patients to use trust in guanxi to increase the credibility of doctors,and the patient's motivation to take the medical treatment through guanxi:to obtain excellent medical resources,to avoid risks,to increase the credibility of doctors,to reduce medical costs,and to obtain doctors good service attitude.Patients use relationship from the kinship to the outsides,but also from the strong relationship to the weak relationship;in the process of the operation of the relationship,that always a relationship chain,which has strong relationships and weak relationships,linking people belonging to different groups.Even if a strong relationship does not directly provide valid information or resources,it can act as a middleman and establish contacts with please and trustees.The main effects are:simplifying medical procedures and shortening time;obtaining expert medical services;improving doctor-patient trust;doctor-patient communication being "satisfactory" and reducing medical expenses.The patient's action logic in using the guanxi in the process of seeking medical treatment is to achieve his or her own medical benefits by turning the doctor into an acquaintance in the context of doctor-patient conflict of interest.The doctor's role is transformed into the role of acquaintance.Patient' trust to doctors is not the trust in institution but the trust.in guanxi.Using guanxi is the result of rational calculations.Patients usually choose to do it when they cannot seek medical treatment normally and need surgery.Because of the obligations of guanxi,doctors will accept patients using guanxi.Relationships are divided into emotional relationships,mixed relationships,and instrumental relationships.Patients use different types of relationships in different ways.People building their network trends to be rationalization,and people will only build relationships with people who are useful to them.
