General Secretary Xi Jinping stated in the report of the 19 th National Congress that“we must strengthen the construction of a social mental health service system and cultivate a positive social mentality”.While the youth as a successor to the country,its psychological construction has important plasticity.Interpersonal quality and psychological adaptation are the important indicators for measuring mental health quality and it is the great significance to development the adolescents' mental health.This study used physical exercise as a means to study the impact of physical exercise on the mental health of adolescents.Using the “Adolescent Mental Health Quality Questionnaire·Interpersonal Quality Subscale”,“Adolescent Mental Health Quality Questionnaire·Adaptation Subscale” and “Physical Exercise Rating Scale” as measurement tools,1016 young people from 5 cities in Henan Province were selected.For effective participants,the relationship among the adolescent physical exercise,interpersonal quality and psychological adaptation was studied,and to test the intermediary role of interpersonal quality in physical exercise and psychological adaptation.Conclusions are as follow:First,adolescent physical exercise is mainly focused on small exercise.There are gender and grade differences in the amount of exercise: the scores of boys are significantly higher than girls;the lowest scores is the second-year junior high school students;the highest scores is the third-year junior high school students,and it is related to the school sports test.Second,the interpersonal quality scores of young people are generally at a medium level,and the percentage of low-level people is significantly higher than the national average.The interpersonal quality scores is no significant difference in gender,but there are significant differences in grades,the lowest in the second-year junior high school students and the highest is the first grade senior high school students.The psychological scores of adolescents were generally at a medium level,and the percentage of low-level people was significantly higher than the nationalaverage.There are gender differences in the learning adaptation dimension,and girls score significantly higher than boys.There are significant differences in the psychological adaptation dimensions of adolescents of different grades in addition to social adaptation.The second grade junior high school students has the lowest score and the highest score belonging the first grade senior high school students.Third,physical exercise has a positive effect on the interpersonal quality of young people.The intensity,time,frequency and exercise volume of physical exercise are significantly positively correlated with the interpersonal quality of adolescents.There are significant differences in the total scores of adolescent interpersonal quality and each dimension in terms of exercise intensity,exercise time,and exercise volume;There is a significant difference in the frequency of interpersonal communication.From the perspective of scores,as the youth exercise increases,their interpersonal quality scores increase.It shows that physical exercise contributes to the improvement of interpersonal quality.The regression equation of the total score of interpersonal quality during exercise time indicates that exercise time has the greatest impact on interpersonal quality.Fourth,physical exercise has a positive effect on the psychological adaptation of adolescents.The intensity,time and amount of exercise were significantly positively correlated with the psychological adaptation of adolescents.The total scores of adolescents' psychological adaptation and their dimensions are significantly different in terms of exercise intensity,exercise time and exercise volume;There is a significant difference in the frequency of exercise in social adaptation.From the perspective of scores,as the number of adolescents exercise increases,psychological adaptation scores increase,indicating that physical exercise promotes psychological adaptation.The exercise time enters the regression equation of the total score of psychological adaptation,indicating that the exercise time of adolescents directly affects their psychological adaptation.Fifth,The total score of interpersonal quality and the total scores of each dimension and psychological adaptability and each dimension are significantly positively correlated,and the interpersonal and interpersonal control enters the adaptive regression equation.It shows that interpersonal communication andinterpersonal control play a role in the psychological adaptability of adolescents,and interpersonal communication has the greatest influence on psychological adaptation.Sixth,Interpersonal quality plays an intermediary role between physical exercise and psychological adaptation.Physical exercise affects psychological adaptation through the adjustment of interpersonal quality.Therefore,effective measures should be taken to further improve the interpersonal quality of young people and give full play to the benefits of interpersonal quality.
