After winning the Australian Open in 2004,Federer won the first place in the world.Later,he won five consecutive titles at Wimbledon and the US Open, setting the world's longest record in singles for 237 consecutive weeks, sitting in 19 Grand Slam Championships(up to the end of 2017)and refreshing the tennis record time and again.Federer, with such brilliant achievements, won less than lost against Nadal. The two have played 38 times in their careers so far(up to the end of 2017).In the 33 matches between 2004 and 2014,Federer won 10-23,three of which suffered five consecutive defeats from Nadal. But in the five confrontations between 2015 and2017,Federer won five successive victories in an unprecedented way. What changes have been made in Federer's tactics and techniques? At present, most of the technical and tactical studies of Federer are based on the summary and analysis of his technical and tactical characteristics through the multi-player competition, while few studies of Federer's case-by-case techniques and tactics. The article selected 29 of the 38 matches between Federer and Nadal, and divided 29 matches into four stages according to the previous research on Federer's competitive status: peak period(2004-2007),decline period(2008-2011),rebound period(2012-2014),special case period(2015-2017).Through documentation and video observation, the horizontal and vertical stages were carried out.Through comparative analysis, the following conclusions are drawn:1.In the peak period, the decline period and the rebound period,Federer's utilization rate of inside and outside corners in a flat zone is significantly different(P< 0.05),and the utilization rate of outside corners is significantly higher than that of inside corners. In the special period,Federer's utilization rate of inside and outsidecorners in a flat zone is balanced, which makes it difficult for Nadal to judge the direction of service and the service effect is the best.2.In the special period,Federer's scoring efficiency of each technique in the third bat of the service bureau is the best, which shows that Federer strengthens the attack of the third bat of the service bureau in the special period and speeds up the competition rhythm. In the clay competition of the three periods,Federer's scoring efficiency of each technique in the third bat of the service bureau is obviously lower than that in the hard ground and grassland, indicating that the advantage of the service stage in the clay competition is not great.3.Because Nadal's serve direction is mainly in Federer's backhand area, but Federer's backhand service ability is obviously improved in the special period, which greatly reduces Nadal's service winning rate.4.Federer's fourth return shot in hard court and grass court is more inclined to Nadal's backhand backcourt, but the laterite court is shallow and vulnerable to Nadal's attack.5.In the phase of stalemate,Federer's forehand Line-Changing ability in the special period is not significantly different from the peak period, the decline period and the rebound period, but the scoring efficiency of backhand Line-Changing is obviously improved.6.Federer reached the lowest number of rackets in the phase of stalemate in the special period, which shows that Federer strengthened his offensive ability in the special period and avoided stalemate with Nadal's multi-rackets.
