Research On The Long-term Settlement Intention Of China's Floating Population From The Perspective Of Social Integration

As an important feature of China's social change,the mass migration of population between regions has accelerated China's urbanization process and exerted an important influence on economic development.As the biggest developing country,how to solve the social integration problems in the process of floating population migration and promote the new urbanization strategy in China,has important research significance.It can also provide scientific evidence for advancing the household registration reform,promoting the equalization of public service,enhancing the level of economic integration of the floating population,improving the housing and education conditions of the floating population.Based on the special survey of “Social Integration and Mental Health of Floating Population” initiated by NHFPC of China,this study uses factor analysis method to measure the social integration levels in 8 cities,including Beijing?Shenzhen?Qingdao?Xiamen?Zhengzhou?Chengdu?Jiaxing and Zhongshan,and employs the binary Logistic regression model to analyze the effect of social integration(including economic integration,cultural acquisition,social acceptance and psychological fusion)on the long-term settlement intentions of the floating population.The main conclusions of this study are as follows: First,the overall level of social integration in the eight cities is less than 50 points,with significant differences among the four dimensions.The psychological fusion dimension has the best performance,the score of economic integration and cultural acquisition is low,and the score of social acceptance dimension is the lowest,which lowers the overall integration level.Second,economic integration,social acceptance,cultural acquisition and psychological fusion have a significant positive impact on the long-term residence will of the floating population.Housing expenditure pressure and unequal public services reduce the long-term residence will of the floating population,and urban cultural diversity and inclusiveness enhance the long-term residence will of the floating population.Third,in addition to the level of social integration,individual characteristics,family characteristics,mobility characteristics and other factors will have an impact on the long-term settlement intentions will of the floating population.Male,married,the more educated,non-agricultural hukou type of floating population is more willing to long-term settlement intentions;The longer the floating time is,the stronger the long-term residence will of the floating population is.The long-term settlement intentions will of the floating population flowing into eastern cities is stronger than that flowing into central and western cities.The long-term settlement intentions will of the floating population flowing across cities is stronger than that flowing across counties and provinces.The more worries my hometown has,the more homestead it has and the weaker the long-term residence will be.Based on the research conclusions,the following policy Suggestions are proposed: strengthen the government supervision mechanism,continue to promote the reform of household registration;Learn from demonstration cities of social integration and promote equalization of public services for floating population;Control the government property speculation policy,reduce the housing pressure of the floating population;We will increase the employment income of the floating population and improve the rural land transfer mechanism.Pay attention to the spiritual and cultural needs of floating population and affirm their outstanding contributions.
