Pattern plays a vital part of key experience in children's mathematics learning.The acquisition of pattern ability helps improve children's cognitive ability as well as logical thinking and algebraic thinking in mathematics.The study takes action research as main method,selecting senior children in a class as research subjects,supplemented by the observation and interview method.The study tries to explore the cultivation of pattern ability among senior children in kindergarten line drawing teaching activities through activities of planning,implementation,observation and reflection,adjustment and planning,which is a spiral action.The researcher and cooperative teacher design teaching plans according to both development stages of pattern among children and structures of pattern,exploring the feasibility and results.The result shows that children's sensitivity to pattern as well as spatial ability has been gradually improved through line drawing teaching activities.Conversion level can be reached by majority while creation level can be reached by minority.The pattern development stage of senior children begins with recognition,followed by copying,filling,expanding and conversion.AB,ABC,ABCD structure is commonly used in line drawing.In another aspect,through pattern teaching,teacher's knowledge of pattern as well as others in mathematics has been enriched.Teacher's concept of domain integration has been developed.Teacher's ability to research and reflection have been strengthened.Researcher put forward the following suggestions based on the above results.Firstly,teachers are to get hang of pattern and related knowledge of mathematics,improve teaching reflection ability.Secondly,teachers are to combine the real pattern level of children,to grasp the key of pattern learning.Thirdly,teachers are to enrich methods of pattern teaching,to add up children's pattern experience.
