With the sustained and stable development of China’s national economy,the petrochemical industry marked by ethylene has developed rapidly.However,as we know,China is a country that is poor in oil and gas resources and rich in coal resource,which leads to high dependence on imported oil,reaching 67.4% in 2017.The continuously increasing dependence on imported oil affects China’s energy and economic security.So,relying on the advantages of coal resources,vigorous development ofmodern coal chemical industry and then partiallysubstituting or supplementing petrochemical productshave become an urgent task,and it is also one of the strategic direction of reform of China’s energy supply side.The development of modern coal chemical industry is closely related with the coal gasification technology and air separation unit(ASU).However,in china,the selection of ASUs applied to the coal gasification projects is not so reasonable,resulting in large investment in ASUs and high operating costs,which affects the profitability of the enterprises.In view of this,in this paper,analysis and research on ASU are made by the author based on the coal gasification process,and the purpose is to make the selection of ASU a reasonable and optimized,thus to increase profitability of enterprises.In this paper,firstly,the development of coal gasification plants and ASUs is briefly outlined;then the actual operation of several sets of coal gasification plants and the applied ASUs in China are analyzed and introduced;finally,the performance index control and optimized selectionof ASUs are summarized and by use of linear programming mathematical model,the control of economic indicators of ASU appliedto coal gasification plant is carried out to realize energy-saving and benefit-making.After studying the selection cases of several sets of ASUs applied to domestic large coal chemical plants,in this paper,theunits numberof economical,safe and efficient ASUs and the oxygen production capacity of single set of ASU are summarized.These summarized experiences have been successfully applied to new coal chemical projects.Additionally,in this paper,the future development direction of ASU industry is forecasted,and the importance of strong combination ofgasification equipmentmanufacturingwith that of ASU is briefly described,which provides a direction for the modern coal chemical industry becoming more efficient and energy-saving.
