| Hand-foot-mouth Disease(HFMD)can be caused by enteroviruses and coxsackieviruses, and transmitted mostly among children under five years old.HFMD has been a significant public health challenge in China,Japan and other Asian countries. To understand the transmission of the disease,we examined the transmission rate of HFMD and its seasonality for different countries. The reason for this article to choose three countries and regions in mainland China,Singapore and Japan for that Japan,Singapore, and Mainland China are all three countries with severe hand foot and mouth disease, and all countries in East Asia and Southeast Asia. This dissertation study the incidence of hand-foot-mouth disease(HFMD)in Chinese mainland from 2010 to 2014,in Japan from 2012 to 2016 and in Singapore from 2010 to 2016.The transmission rate of HFMD was analyzed in the three countries by the Simple Mass Model. The results showed that: 1)Both incidence and transmission rate of HFMD in Chinese mainland have annual seasonality with a large peak and a small peak;2)The transmission rate of HFMD in Japan has annual seasonality, although its incidence has the bi-annual cyclic patten;3)The transmission rate of HFMD in Singapore dose not have seasonality;4)There are different transmission rate of HFMD during school terms and vacations in Chinese mainland and Japan,In Japan, the transmission rate of HFMD is the lowest during winter and summer vacations, while the transmission rate of HFMD increases rapidly during winter and summer vacations in Chinese mainland. |
