The piano cycle of Scenes from Childhood Opus.15 is among the most famous works of the German composer Robert Schumann, who is widely regarded as the poet of piano of the Romantic era.Demonstrating his extraordinary capability of music expression,Schumann pictured scenes of childhood vividly, with ingenious and protean design, through the variation-unitary integrated tonal technique, the theme-motive coherent development, the creative harmonies, the tensioned irregular rhythm and rich musical language.Scenes from Childhood Opus.15 employs a homophony-polyphony combined structure, which makes polyphony and homophony harmoniously integrated and mixed. Thus, neglect or confusion may occur during performance. Therefore, various key-touch methods are needed to show the delicate difference of the tones within the music. As every single expression mark in the music has its significance, the performing technique needs to be developed based on the requirements of the rhythm,so that the beauty of this piano cycle will be fully unfolded.
