Paul Hindemith was a famous composer and music theorist in the 20 th centur y.He sought for new breakthroughs in music theor y and creative practice area b y constant l y exploring the elements of music which include functional harmon y s ystem,mode tonalit y s ystem,the developments of music materials,music structure principle and constantl y tr ying for new sound effects.T hese breakthroughs e ven include aesthetic functio n and value of music,musical expression and aesthetic chara cteristics of sound.P aul Hinde mit h was an important representative of this musical development period.He was influenced b y Arnold Sch?nberg,Béla Viktor János Bartók,and Igor Fedorovitch Stravinsk y,who were the famous composers of the same period.He created harmonic tension theor y in harmonic theor y area.This theor y breaks the shackles of the traditional mode s ystem.It not only replaces the meaning of traditional harmonic function with the h armonize relation of different intervals but also raise new concept and method in music.A series of work for new sound was born in this wa y.The practical application of harmonic tension theor y can be shown in piano suite “1922 ” Op.26.This piano music al so contains jazz st yle for early 20 th century.In particular,?Don?t consider the fingers,the piano performance acts as a percussion instrument? is the special playing requirements for this piano music.The retro tendenc y of clavichord and barrettes in th e baroque or earlier periods is even more significant in this music.R eaders can also find the music attribute under his neoclassical label.After searchin g on Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)and relative website in C hinese and foreign lan guage.It can be found that the research of this topic is rare,and deep research is almost a blank.Except conclusion,this paper consists of three chapters.Introduction is talki ng about the biograph y of Hinde mit h and his characteristics of creation,sum mariz e the current situation and discussing the significance of the creation.The second chapter mainl y anal yz es the major characteristics of musical elements and researching the universalit y of performances and the musical st yle of P iano Suite “1922” Op.26.The third chapter is based on the noumenon analysis of music for ever y musical composition in Piano Suite “1922 ”Op.26.The deep anal ysis and exploration is conducted from the three aspects: musical anal ysis,performance technique and teaching criteria;which can help understand the thinking logical structu re of the musical work of Hindemit h deeper.There are three t yp es of innovativeness of this paper:(1)In the aspect of theoretical meaning,it is the first time to do deep research into the division of musical structure in each level,the noumenon anal ysis of music and anal yze the internal relation of the theoretical foundation,performing demands and composting st yle.(2)In terms of the st yle of works,the piano performance acting as a percussion inst rument and literar y technique and accomplishing means of the seeking of the unique sound of percussion are both explored.(3)As far as performance skill is concerned,the characteristics of the contemporar y music in works are not onl y showed b y man y finge rs pla y such as imitating a baroque clavichord or an earlier barreled piano,but also displa yed b y the unique musical awareness and novel ke y-touching technology.
