On The Transformation Of Parallel Style Official Documents In The Middle And Late Tang Dynasty

The ancient official documents are often writing in the form of parallel prose.Parallel prose is one of the most important tool of government to handle official business,which has an important influence on the literati’s official career.From Tang Dynasty to the Late Tang,the parallel prose has been in constant development and revolution due to various subjective and objective reasons and the influence of master’s creation style and stylistic ideas.The change of the parallel style official documents in the Middle Tang Dynasty is embodied in the outstanding contribution of Lu Zhi.Lu Zhi,as the master of official-document-writing,although most of memorials documents are in parallel prose,but it has no such defects of using parallel allusion and over rhetoric words.Because most extravagant diction of previous parallel prose has been removed.In a word,the parallel prose has been transformed to a certain extent in the hands of Lu Zhi,which is the sprout of the prose,so its distinctive official document is regarded as the norm in the later generations.As ancient prose revolution gradually faded away at the late Tang dynasty,the official culture became more exaggerate.The parallel prose writers represented by Li Shangyin and the 46-sentences of the official document has been become the standard form at that time.The social atmosphere of luxury and the decline of the country became the renaissance soil of the parallel prose.And all kinds of criticism theories and books promote the parallel prose revival from the outside.The main reason is the vitality of the parallel prose itself.The middle and Late Tang Dynasty,the length of the parallel prose sentence experienced the process of loose sentences to four-character sentence,even to dual sentence including 4&6 couplet,and simple sentence to parallel sentence.In the terms of allusions,it changed from using less allusion to using more.And the style of the official parallel prose is transformed from mild prosaic to complicated dualization.About the rhythm,the rhythm is more natural in mid Tang Dynasty,and it pay attention to the basic tonal antithesis.It even becomes more accurate at the late Tang Dynasty,the basic tonal antithesis is more coordinated and the form is more symmetry and neatness.
