A Comparative Study Of The Adverbs "zhen" And "tai"

"Zhen" and "Tai" are frequently used adverbs in Modern Chinese.There are numerous studies on "Zhen" and "Tai",few distinguishable studies.This article contrasts "Zhen" and "Tai",including the contrast of their modifiers and the comparison with other adverbs,"Zhen+X" "Tai+X" syntactic function,try to explain the function of the similarities and differences between the two from Cognition Perspective.The structure of this article is as follows:The introduction mainly introduces the origin of the topic,the research status of "Zhen" "Tai",the significance of the research,the source of the corpus and the methods of research.The first chapter analyses the comparison of "Zhen" and "Tai" in the composition of the modification.They can modify verbs and adjectives,but "Zhen" modifies verbs frequently,"Tai" modifies adjectives frequently;"Zhen" modified phrases more frequently than "Tai".And "Tai" can modify a single adjective much higher than other ingredients.The second chapter analyzes "Zhen" "Tai" are used of other adverbs."Zhen" usually in front of other adverbs,"Tai" usually behind of them.They can be used with negative adverbs and highest negative adverb is "Bu".In addition,we found that "Zhen" "Tai" can be used to "Zhen +Tai+ center word".The third chapter analyzes the syntactic function of "Zhen+X" and "Tai+X".They are used as the main syntactic function of the predicate,can be independent sentences.The difference is that "Tai+adjectives" can be the subject,the attributive.The fourth chapter analyzes the differences between " Zhen " " Tai " in Cognitive Perspective.According to the family iconicity principle,although they belong to the category of adverbs,they do not share all the features,so the two have their own characteristics."Zhen" with subjective tendency,can modify verbs of psychological activities,modal verbs,verbs for evaluation frequently,thereby affecting the "Zhen+X" structure function,the properties of a single predicate is determined.Compared with " Zhen "," Tai " modifies adjectives frequently to express the character degree of the objective object.Semantically speaking,"Tai" can express a high degree of positive semantics,or express excessive negation semantics,and highlight what kind of semantics is closely related to context.These phenomena reflect human cognitive logic sequence of sentence order of words.The relative position reflects the cognitive distance iconicity of sentence surface effects.Concluding remarks summarizes the content of the paper and points out the problems needing a deeper research.
