Symphony In B Flat was created in the second half of the 19 th century,which is one of the important representative of Ernest Chausson,a romantic composer from French.Based on the functionalized harmony of major-minor mode,combining modelized harmony with other methods like complicated chord structure,functionalized logical expansion etc.,this work has formed a distinctive harmony structure.This paper takes the French romantic composer Ernest Chausson's work Symphony In B Flat as the subject,it can be divided into four sections: explaining and summarizing the development of French music;describing Ernest Chausson's life and the brief introduction of this work;discussing the harmony techniques of this work and analyzing the role of this work in the development of French music history.The first chapter includes the general situation of the development of French national music,the introduction of Ernest Chausson's life and the overview of his work,doing the overall analysis combined with the era background and the music creation situation.The second and third chapters includes the harmony techniques of this work in terms of its chord structure and harmony development way,it is found that the harmony materials are based on the three-degree chord and its special application,additional note chords,split chords,compound harmony structure.The third chapter focuses on the change and expansion of traditional functional logic,linearization,modal harmony etc.
