Explanation Of The Thought Of "gewu" In "Wu Yuan Ji Yuan" And "Wu Yuan"

There are many contents related to artifacts recorded in the Leishu about origins in ancient China.Some of the contents are taken from ancient books that have been lost,some of the contents perhaps added author’s understanding or discussion.Therefore,the Leishu about origins are not only the encyclopedias,and play a instrumental role.Shiwujiyuan and Wuyuan are two books were written in Song Dynasty and Ming Dynasty.They have collected lots of vocabulary entries about artifacts.In the process of studying the entries,I found that the selection criteria,classification,ranking,and specific explanations in these two books all showed regularity.The contents of Shiwujiyuan and Wuyuan reflect the “Objects carry Dao”“Material to use”idea of knowing things.In other words,the purpose of studying the entries in the two books is to discover the value of artifacts in the hearts of the ancients.Specifically,this concept is mainly manifested in three aspects,one is the concept of creation,the other is the dialectical name of artifacts,and the third is the concept of the use of utensils.In sum,after thousands of years of accumulation of creation activities by the ancients of China,numerous kinks of utensils have been left.Later generations of Chinese scholars have been constantly understanding and discussing these utensils.This is what the Books of Rites put forward as “GeWuZhiZhi”,and this paper tries ti find out the truth of the ancients’ thoughts of knowing things from the two books.
