‘Cello Sonata in F major'(Op.6)is the only sonata for cello created by Richard Strauss.It is in three movements.This thesis takes the first movement as research object and combines Richard Strauss' life experience to analyze its artistic expression,music form structure and musical connotation.This thesis consists of four chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the life experience and music career of Richard Strauss including creation background of ‘Cello Sonata in F major'(Op.6).Based on the music ontology of ‘Cello Sonata in F major'(Op.6)first movement,the second chapter adopts Structure Analysis method to explore technique characters of the first movement and conducts detailed analysis from three dimensions : theme-motive,polytonality and music form structure.The third chapter focused on the playing skills of the work and discusses from the three aspects: intonation,timbre and rhythm.The last chapter compares and analyzes the performance of different concert performers in order to explore the variation of playing techniques and styles.Furthermore,combining playing experience,the author compares performance characters of first movement by different performer and summarize the playing techniques and emotional expression of ‘Cello Sonata in F major'(Op.6)first movement.The aim is to provide a reference and theoretical foundation for those who play and study this work.
