As our country’s international status continues to increase,internationalization continues to strengthen,bringing new colors to our lives.The language used for communication is not only the national language,but English has clearly become our second language.In the student’s entire learning career,the high school stage is a golden age for developing foreign language skills,which include "reading" and "writing" abilities.Therefore,English writing is especially important for high school English teaching.How to improve the writing teaching methods and improve the students’ corresponding ability in the only three years of high school has become the focus of attention.This paper begins to discover and understand the problems in English writing teaching,and provides some reasonable and effective methods to change the current situation of English writing teaching.The main content of this paper is divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research background and significance of this paper,and carries on the literature review at home and abroad.The second part clearly defines the meaning of high school writing English teaching,and analyzes the theoretical basis and teaching philosophy,such as linguistics basis,people-oriented,return to life and other concepts.In the third part,the author investigated the high school teachers and students of the two high schools in the western district of Panzhihua City—12th and 7th Middle Schools,using various forms of investigation such as classroom lectures and questionnaires.The survey found that the vast majority of teachers use the requirements of the “New Standards” as a guide to teach and clarify the main training of English teaching purpose,but only a few teachers can recognize that English writing is a core part of the comprehensive ability of English skills.In terms of teaching methods,teachers also put English writing in an important position in teaching,but the teaching results are not satisfactory.As expected,some reasons have been found from the problem,such as the lack of attention and action in the English writing of teachers,and the lack of effectiveness in classroom teaching.The fourth part puts forward some effective solutions,in view of the above existing problems,such as stimulating students’ interest,cultivating good habits,paying attention to writing skills,improving the quality of teachers and so on.The author also hope to provide some help for high school English writing teaching.
