On Lu Chen's Yinming Research

Lv Cheng is one of the most influential Buddhist masters in modern times.His Buddhist studies cover a wide range of subjects.Among them,his Hetuvidyā research is unique and far-reaching influence in modern Hetuvidyā research.This paper tries to make a comprehensive and detailed analysis of Lv Cheng’s Hetuvidyā research,to highlight his characteristics more clearly,and to explore the influence and value of his research on Hetuvidyā.This paper is divided into four parts: the first part summarizes the historical background of Lv Cheng’s research on Hetuvidyā,and analyzes the influence of the revival of Cittamātra in the republic of China,as well as the impact of Japanese and western Hetuvidyā research.It summarizes the ideological origin,and confirms the research tendency of Dinnāga,which is transmitted by Xuanzang.The second part describes Lv Cheng’s research process and classifies his works,which are generally divided into four categories: general theory,translation,comparison and monographic study.The third part summarizes the contents of Lv Cheng’s research on Hetuvidyā,including "the history of Hetuvidyā","the Tri-avayava" and "the theory of pramā?a".The study of the history of Hetuvidyā mainly involves three aspects: tracing to the origin,the differences between ancient and modern theories,and the development of Sino-Tibetan Hetuvidyā.The Tri-avayava including the explanation of the logic: "Pratij?ā","Hetu" and "Udāhara?a".The theory of pramā?a mainly involves the study of the epistemology--"Pratyak?a" and "Anumāna".The last part summarizes its influence on modern times.On the one hand,Mr.Lv has unique linguistic advantages,he was good at collating and arranging the texts,established the research method of multilingual collation.On the other hand,he had many ideas that had a far-reaching impact.In addition,he devoted himself to the practical use of Hetuvidyā,tried to combine it with other disciplines and then drives the development process of Hetuvidyā.Lv Cheng’s study of Hetuvidyā is not only the inheritance and development of texts,but also the exploration of the research methods and development direction of Hetuvidyā.Mr.Lv not only provides a large number of accurate text materials,but also promotes the study method of comparison,Outlines the details of the Chinese Hetuvidyā clearly,and provides an example for the study of Hetuvidyā...
