A Study Of Chinese Unearthed Mouth Springs From The Perspective Of Music Archaeology

In recent years,with the excavation of Bone Jew’s harps at Shimao site in Shanxi Province,the unearthed Jew’s harp in China has been paid more and more attention.Since the 1960 s,many bone and bamboo Jew’s harps have been excavated in the northeast of China.They are similar in shape and size.In this paper,No12.and No13.Bone Jew’s harps excavated in Jianping Shuiquan site,Chaoyang City,Liaoning Province and M14:6 Bone Jew’s harp excavated in Xiajiadian site,Chifeng City,Inner Mongolia are taken as the main research objects.The paper introduces and classifies the structure of the excavated Jew’s harp in China,and makes a comparison of their structure characteristics.The paper also deals with the introduction of the form of the Jew’s harps unearthed in the north of East Asia,especially in the south of Siberia,and the comparison of the form of them with that unearthed in the northeast of China.I could try to speculate the transmission way of the excavated Jew’s harps,especially the Lamellate form in China.Finally,the author uses the method of experimental Archaeology and the process of bone production in the Shang and Zhou Dynasties to make a manual copy of No.12 and No.13 Bone Jew’s harps in Shuiquan site.Using the digital modeling technology(Unigraphics NX)and 3D printing technology,the M14:6 Bone Jew’s harp of Xiajiadian site was copied.In order to understand the processing and the sound mechanism of the reed,and to verify the effect of opening holes at both ends,the reproduction of excavated Jew’s harp is essential.
