Task-based Approach is a language learning method popped in the 1980 s.The Ministry of National Education-Basic Education promulgated new English curriculum standard in 2011,and advocates Task-based Approach.It contributes to the implementation of the new curriculum standards of advanced teaching concepts and improves the students' integrated language skills.It also helps to overcome the drawbacks of traditional teaching methods.Under the background of English teaching reform in our country,this thesis surveys relevant research results at home and abroad,discusses in detail the concept of the task-based teaching method,theoretical basis,etc.On that basis,through the investigation in three different Middle Schools in Wanzhou district,this thesis studies the implementation of the task-based teaching method in three different middle schools,analyzes the existing problems in English teaching practice in rural middle schools,and puts forward corresponding solutions.The research questions are specifically how the junior middle school English teachers understand the task-based teaching method,whether it is feasible and what are the main problems in the implementation process.The research methods are mainly the classroom observation method and the questionnaire survey method,in which the result of the questionnaire survey is the main basis for the research design.The result of the study is that in junior high school English classrooms,English teachers usually combine task-based teaching methods with traditional teaching methods,mainly oriented on the entrance examination.The whole thesis consists of five chapters.Chapter One is introduction to the research background,and also states the significance of the study,research situation at home and abroad and research methods.Chapter Two conducts the survey of the relevant introduction to Task-based Approach.It mainly includes the concept,features and implementation principles of Task-based Approach.It also explains the relevant theories based on the Task-based Approach.In Chapter Three,the thesis investigates the implementation of Task-based Approach,including the purpose,the object and the process of the investigation and analyzes the data of the research.Chapter Four draws the conclusions from the investigation and gives constructive suggestions according to the difficulties encountered in the application of Task-based Approach.
