With the continuous development and popularization of Internet technology, the influence of Internet media on public life is becoming more and more extensive. In terms of political life, online media has provided the public with wealthy political information and channels for political participation. As a result, the public's political cognition, attitude, and behavior have changed. This article focuses on a new and important group in Chinese society-a new social class. From the perspective of media dependence theory, this paper uses questionnaire research methods to explore their media behaviors, political attitudes(political efficacy)and behaviors(network participation)relationship, trying to enrich and expand the research content and perspective of political communication in the new media environment by studying this group. The study finds that the media dependence of the new social class has a significant predictive power on their political attitudes and behaviors. In political attitudes, the traditional media dependence(newspaper dependence, radio dependence, and television dependence)of the new social class has a significant positive predictive power for their internal political effectiveness and external political effectiveness respectively. The network dependence of the new social class only has a significant positive predictive power for their external political effectiveness. In the aspect of political behavior,Internet dependence, radio dependence, and newspaper dependence have a strong predictive power for online political participation of the new social class. In contrast,Internet dependence is rather more predictive in Internet participation of new social classes than traditional media dependence(broadcast and newspaper). The findings of this study indicate that traditional media dependence for new social class groups plays a much stronger role in political attitudes than online media dependence. However,at the level of political behavior, online media reliance is stronger than traditional media reliance.Based on the findings, this study proposes suggestions on improving and optimizing the political attitudes and behaviors of the new social class in the Internet era from a media perspective.
