Abstract/Summary:
The myth of the Sinner King is studied through a range of six possible texts of the medieval French literature (Guillaume d'Angleterre; Renaud de Montauban; Anseïs de Carthage; Perceval ou le conte du Graal; La Queste del Saint Graal and La Mort Arthu) that are placed in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. I study how the myth is included in each of them as well as the questions and solutions that the society of the epoch gives him. The myth inscribed in a temporal space setting is analysed in each book through these aspects; likewise, I believe it is needed to study in depth the role of the characters that take part in each work, emphasizing the figure of the Sinner King, the main topic of my thesis, trying to find out the reason of his regeneration or his failure and the consequences that his sin brings to the society in which he reigns.
