The purpose of this study was to compare the prevalence of the risk factors of smoking, hypercholesterolemia, and family history of coronary artery disease (CAD) for younger as compared to older patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Understanding younger CABG populations' risk factors as compared to older provides public health practitioners information to improve local health patterns to help prevent the progression of early-onset CAD.; This study was conducted on 3,101 CABG patients' data from a hospital located in Central California. The data indicated a statistically higher rate of the risk factors for patients over 40 years old. The results differed from available, comparative research studies and may demonstrate a beneficial change in the prevalence of risk factors in younger CABG patients.
