| As the educational pendulum swings from traditional teacher-centered to more flexible student-centered classrooms, instructors search for a means with which to facilitate learning. The writer's workshop has emerged and is being utilized in varying degrees across all grade levels. Before embracing any methodology, it is imperative to understand the theoretical justification for doing so. And if convinced the concept is worthy of implementation, one must understand potential problems and have concrete examples to work into lesson plans. The following project contains research from a variety of experts addressing these issues. Writer's workshops, despite some challenges, appear to contribute at least as well if not better to students' success as writers than traditional teacher-directed instruction. |
