Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this research is to answer the general question: "How to improve the quality of feasibility studies in order to give more opportunity for projects to succeed?". To do this, a large literature on the feasibility studies was conducted, and exploratory interviews with project managers were performed.;Based on an exploratory qualitative approach, this research formulates a research proposition highlighting the factors that contribute to improving the quality of a feasibility study. This proposal was tested using a semi-directive interview.;The analysis of the obtained results show that the quality of a feasibility study is defined by the following elements: "the quality and the accuracy of its information", "the meaning of its results" ," the creativity and the number of alternative solutions", "the optimization of resources (time, cost and labor)", "the creation of new knowledge". Analysis of results also demonstrates that factors improving these elements are: "the use of procedure", "the use of software", "experience, vision and neutrality of the project leader", "the well-identified need" and "the quality of information".;Keywords: Feasibility studies, preliminary design, project initiation phase, quality, diagram of feasibility studies, project success.
