There have close relationships between urbanization and climate change,as a consequence,to clarify the relationship between urbanization and climate change which has aroused wide attention from all over the world is an important prerequisite for sustainable economic and social development.Yangtze River Middle Reaches Megalopolis(YRMRM)is the key stage to implement The Rise of Central China Strategy,Deepening Reform and Opening Up Policy and Promote New-type Urbanization.They are new growth pole of promoting Chinese economic development,shouldering the heavy responsibility of promoting the regional economic development.As a result,it is urgent to study the urban morphology evolution and climate change in Yangtze River Middle Reaches Megalopolis to provide reference for the planning and policy-making of this region.In this study,we systematically study LUCC and urban form characters together with their changes from 2000 to 2015 at megalopolis level to characterize YRMRM's spatial developed pattern.And we use extreme weather indices,linear regression to explore the response mechanism to local climate change in the process of rapid urbanization.The results showed us as follows:(1)the main LUCC in YRMRM was urban expansion(3748.34km~2),followed by reduction of cultivated land(3385.58 km~2);(2)The urbanization pattern of Wuhan Metropolitan Area,Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Metropolitan Area and Poyang Lake Metropolitan Area are quite different.The Wuhan Metropolitan Area develops in a continuous and less fragmented fashion,with increased shape complexity and local dispersion.The spatial pattern of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Metropolitan Area seems to be increasingly fragmented,complex and dispersed.The spatial development pattern in the Poyang Lake Metropolitan Area is overall continuous with an increasingly complex shape and severe local dispersion.(3)The average temperature of YRMRM showed an increasing trend from 1988 to 2017,with a growth rate of 0.95?/10a;the extreme weather events showed spatial difference while in some key local area(e.g.Wuhan Metropolitan Area,Three Gorges Reservoir,etc.)extreme weather events had significant increase.(4)Rapid urbanization has significant influence on the increase of average temperature and extreme weather events in YRMRM;construct land,water area and green land all contribute to this influence.Through this study,we understand various environmental and climatic problems from rapid urbanization and provide a solid theoretical for solving the problems encountered in urban development.However,more intrinsic and specific factors which influence urban landscape patterns and climate change are still unclear.These factors are worthy of further study in order to provide specific supports for proposing policies for urban planning,governance,and coordinated development of YRMRM.
