With the deepening of the development of the western region, the economic development in the western region has gradually expanded from the development of the single city to the linkage development of the urban agglomeration The spatial structure and evolution of urban agglomeration has also become a long-term concern of government decision-making departments and academia. In the western region, when it comes to regional development strategics,Whether it is to continue to push forward the development of the big cities, and then bring into play the spillover effect of the big cities, promoting the development of the surrounding small and medium-sized cities,or to increase the development of small and mcdium-sized cities, guiding labor, capital and industry to move to less developed cities,so as to achieve common development. There is no unified conclusion yet. Therefore,it is necessary to study the rational and orderly state of the spatial structure of the western urban agglomeration. How can the evolution of spatial Structure of urban agglomeration in Western China promote economic growth? The way of resource allocation behind the evolution of economic spatial structure of the urban agglomerations in the westem region and how it affects the overall economic growth of the urban agglomerations. This is of great significance.Firstly, this paper defines the object of urban agglomerations in Western China and literature review on the evolution of spatial structurc and economic growth in urban agglomeration, the paper measure the spatial structure of urban agglomerations in Western China from population, industry and land use dimensions, the paper find with the time evolution the most urban agglomerations shows the agglomeration spatial structure, but the spatial structure shows a greater difference between urban agglomerations.Secondly,The paper analyzes the history and current situation of economic growth in urban agglomerations in Westem China. We find that the per capita GDP growth rate of urban agglomeration is above 9%,however,the gap between the economic growth rate of each city group is large, and the economic growth of each city group has negative spatial correlation.Thirdly, with the help of the research methods of New Economic Geography,Starting from the micro subjects such as residents, enterprises and government, this paper discusses how the location choice of micro entities affects the spatial agglomeration of economic activities, and how the spatial agglomeration of economic activities affects the economic growth of urban agglomeration. It is find that the location choice of micro entities within the urban agglomeration can affect economic growth by influencing knowledge spillovers, environmental governance and transportation.Based on the existing research,we conclude the six paths of the spatial structure of urban agglomerations in Western China affecting economic growth.finally,by using the data of eight cities in the western region for 2000-2016 years, the spatial econometric model is used to verify whether the above path is valid,The following conclusions are drawn:? population agglomeration and land use spatial agglomeration in the western region is not conducive to economic growth. Its indirect effects are manifested on the one hand,it can promote the accumulation of physical capital and human capital, and increase the intensity of transportation to promote economic growth. On the other hand,it can increase environmental pollution and thus inhibit economic growth.? The agglomeration of industrial clusters in urban areas in the western region is not conducive to economic growth. Its indirect effects are manifested on the one hand,it can promote the accumulation of physical capital and human capital,on the other hand it can increase environmental pollution, and thus inhibit economic growth.Government intervention can regulate the economic restraint of urban agglomeration.Based on this, they propose policy suggestionons for the development of urban agglomerations in the western region from the perspectives of sub-regional population adjustment, guiding the rational distribution of industries and the transfer of pollution-intensive industries, promoting the coordination of land use space, clarifying the function of urban functions within urban agglomerations, and strengthening infrastructure.
