Marine scientific research is the basis for mankind to understand the ocean,which is of great significance for mankind to explore the origin of life,study the process of geological evolution,and develop and utilize marine resources.However,since human cannot reach the seabed for exploration at wil,the construction of multi-source scientific research data into a truly restored seabed virtual reality environment can give people an immersive experience,which is beneficial to assist the analysis and research of submarine scientific research.Therefore,the demand for building an immers i ve marine virtual reality environment has increased significantly.As the marine scientific research is a comprehensive scientific investigation that integrates multiple disciplines such as marine hydrology,geophysics,geochemistry,marine biology and geologic a l structure,the oceanic scientific research data have the characteristics of multi-source,low density and three-dimensional,which produce more uncertainties in the process of data analysis and resource evaluation.The emergence of immersive virtual reality technology provides new methods and new means for submarine scientific research.Based on the multi-source scientific research data of the polymetallic sulfide contract area in the Southwest Indian Ocean,this paper studies the immersive virtua l reality geological modeling and immersive data interaction methods.The main research work is as follows:(1)Aiming at the scientific research demand of the polymetallic sulfide contract area in the Southwest Indian Ocean,a virtual reality modeling method for the Southwest Indian Ocean deep-sea geological body,submarine observation station,submarine hydrothermal vents,and turbidity anomaly survey lines has been proposed and realized.(2)Aiming at the scientific research demand of the polymetallic sulfide contract area in the Southwest Indian Ocean,immersive virtual reality interactive methods such as interactive display of multi-source scientific research data and autonomous underwater vehicle roaming and teleporting have been proposed and realized.as interactive display of multi-source scientific research data and autonomous underwater vehicle roaming and teleporting have been proposed and realized.(3)Based on the immersive virtual reality environment of the polymetallic sulfide contract area in the Southwest Indian Ocean,the multi-source scientific research data in the area are visualized and analyzed comprehensively,and the application scenario of using the boundary constraint method of the target point for the outline of the distant area and the calculation of the ore body is proposed.The construction of the real seabed immersive virtual reality environment of the polymetallic sulfide contract area in the Southwest Indian Ocean has realized the scientific expression of multi-source scientific research data and achieved good results.
