Application Of Bangladeshi Traditional Fabric:Khadi On Traditional Chinese Costume:Qipao

Clothing has a history of a long period with a rich culture.Clothing is not only demonstrating people’s standards of living but also represents the change of certain periods of people’s aesthetic in history.Qipao which is one of the most famous and most remarkable representative of Chinese traditional dress is also can display the lasting appeal of oriental women.Qipao is not just a piece of clothing it’s omnipresent in people’s life.The contoured structure of qipao shows the curvaceous beauty of oriental women.Maintained national character and conformed to the requirements of the times,qipao is the classic of innovations based on traditions.After the changes in more than three hundred years,Qipao still owns a variety of beautiful names,such as "Eastern Exotic Flower," "Chinese Dress" and the Most Elegant Costume:Thus,it shows that "classics represent eternity.”Qipao still has an important position in the design field in these modern days.Designers have never stopped imitating innovation in the Qipao design.Qipao represents the subdued,implicit,confident and simple temperament of Chinese with its natural and simple style.It owns unique spiritual-cultural meaning as a kind of costume that reflects western women’s charm.Qipao not only maintained the traditional meaning of China,but also absorbed amounts of western concepts and skills about cloths,and then produced modern Chinese dress.In this study,attempts were taken to redesign and develop Qipao by the integration of innovative design and selection of traditional Bangladeshi Khadi fabric.Firstly,the pattern and design selection were done after that the traditional Bangladeshi Khadi fabric was weaved by using handloom.Then the development of the fashionable Qipao by the infliction of handmade Khadi fabric was conducted.Furthermore,the market survey was conducted to evaluate the acceptance of redesigned Qipao among individuals.Survey results represent that,redesigned Qipao got the new consumer’s attention and acceptability which will acquire and convey forward the conventional Qipao social meaning and aesthetic worth.This article is trying to explore the fashionable approach on qipao through this design and practice and also by studying and researching more on the qipao itself so that the qipao could have more development and innovation in modern clothing art.This paper systematically studies qipao design,pattern,decoration,style,structure,characteristics,workmanship,influencing factors for qipao design,modernizing the way of qipao.Besides this,it also describes the development of Bangladeshi traditional khadi fabric,characteristics,production process,etc.Finally,this paper describes the modernizing way of qipao and the application of khadi fabric on modern qipao.Through this paper,it tried to give the traditional Chinese qipao a multicultural outlook and to get the new consumer’s attention and acceptability by modernizing and diversify the current fashion trends.And these are the only process for cultural heritage preservation,fashion diversification and new market creation for the qipao.
