Research And Innovative Design Of Xixia Military Officer’s Uniform

In middle ancient China,Xixia(1038-1227),an influential Dynasty,was established in Northwest China.The main ethnic group of Xixia was Tangut.Xixia,as the third power of China in the Song Dynasty,dominated for two centuries,which had a significant influence on the relationship between Chinese history and dynasties at that time.With the annihilation of Xixia ancient books,Xixia became a Dynasty without uncorrected history.Throughout the study of clothing in Xixia,due to the lack of early research materials and other problems,there is no monograph dedicated to the study of clothing of Tangut in Xixia.The 29 th cave of Yulin Grottoes is the clearest and unambiguous one of the existing image materials of military officers’ clothing in the Western Xia Dynasty.Zhao Mayu,the commander of the Shazhou supervision army,built this grotto.Taking Zhao Mayu,the male supporter of the Zhao family in No.29 cave of Yulin grottoes,as an example,on the basis of previous studies on Xixia military officer’s uniform,this article makes a concrete and systematic summary of Xixia military service,which has the characteristics of the party,by using the methods of literary analysis,image study,and comparative analysis.The research content of this paper is divided into seven chapters.The first chapter analyzes the current research result of Zhao’s male provider’s clothing in the 29 th cave of Yulin grottoes,the main contents of this research,and the key and difficult points of innovation in the research;the second chapter summarizes the history and clothing of Xixia and describes the classification of the official clothing of Xixia;the third chapter determines the concept of "Office’s Uniform" in Xixia and infers specific styles of military official clothing;on this basis,the paper analyzes and sorts out the specific grades of "Crown","Robe" and "Accessories".In chapter four,after summarizing the clothing of Zhao’s male supporter in Yulin cave 29,it determines the specific categories,styles,colors,and materials of the military uniform wearing by Zhao Mayu,according to the literature and image data.At the same time,it explores the military uniform of Xixia based on the research results The fifth chapter is the image restoration of Zhao’s male supporter’s clothing in the 29 th cave of Yulin Grottoes based on the previous research and summarizes the improvements;the sixth chapter analyzes the application of Xixia military uniform in modern clothing design and explores the innovative design ideas of Xixia military uniform to complete the author’s graduation design in practice.To carry out the systematic research in the field of Xixia military official clothing,this article fills in the important content of the research on the military official clothing in Xixia and provides the literature for the later scholars to study the military official clothing in Xixia.At the same time,it tries to restore the specific characteristics of the style,color,fabric and other aspects of Xixia military official uniform through the image restoration,which causes the attention of academia and the public to the northwest ancient minority costumes,so as to promote the research of Northwest ancient minority costumes in China.
