WEDM is one of the important nontraditional machining methods,which has been widely applied in mold processing,automotive,aviation,etc.Dry WEDM is a new technology which appears in these years.Compared to the traditional WEDM,Dry WEDM has lots of advantages,such as excellent straightness,narrow discharge gap,no electrolytic corrosion on surface,non-polluted in the machining processing and so on.It applies to finishing machining.So suming up a set of Processing laws of Dry WEDM can greatly improve the processing efficiency and the quality of machined and give full play to the performance of the machine tool.It has a great significance to improve the Processing technology of Dry WEDM.This paper summarized the principle of pulse discharge in WEDM machining processing.It gave an outline of multiple cutting in WEDM.It simply introduced how electrical parameters and non-electrical parameters affected surface roughness and material removal rate as well.This paper designed simple test in which elements contained pulse duration,ratio of pulse interval to pulse duration,peak current,offset,wire winding speed and technical indexes contained surface roughness and cutting speed,and get the commom range of all the parameters in finishing experiment of Dry WEDM.The range is the base of the central composite design.we get a rank of elements for technical indexes by the Design-Expert.We also get two proved more accurate regression equation of technical indexes.It provides a more accurate mathematical model for the further WEDM process research.At last,the paper designed comparison experiment among Dry,Near Dry and traditional WEDM.We get the influence laws of surface roughness and cutting speed in the three mediums.Through the study on the SEM pictures of the surface which was machined we found the differences among the three mediums in WEDM.We also verified that the mist greatly enhanced the cutting speed in the Dry WEDM through the rough comparison experiment.
