Preparation And Properties Of Nonwoven Wallpaper Base Paper Containing Feather Fiber

As a kind of interior decoration material,non-woven wallpapers are increasingly favored by consumers.Actually,non-woven wallpaper base paper is basically produced by adding a appropriate proportion of chemical fiber components to the pulp,which has poor self-degradation performance in nature.The purpose of this paper is to use feather fiber instead of chemical fiber to apply to non-woven wallpaper,and realize the whole natural degradable fiber manufacturing of non-woven wallpaper base paper under the premise of meeting the product performance requirements,at the same time,to open up a new way for the high value-added utilization of feathers.Firstly,the effect of feather fiber type and screening on the paper performance was studied.The results showed that the down-silk were soft and malleable,while the feather barb were stiff and straight.Moreover,the paper made of down-silk has better strength and higher air permeability.The paper produced by longer feather fibers have a higher strength but a lower air permeability.The feather fiber and the polypropylene fiber were mixed with the wood pulp fiber respectively.Studies have shown that as the addition amount of fiber increases,the strength of the paper sheets gradually decreases,and the air permeability rises.But the two fibers showed different performances.When the fiber addition amount was 20%,the tensile index of the feather-containing paper sheets decreased by 11%,the burst index decreased by 28%,and the air permeability increased by 59.8%.However,the tensile index of the polypropylene-containing paper sheets decreased by 48.79%,the burst index decreased by 59.8%and the air permeability increased by 224%.So the strength of the polypropylene-containing paper sheets was lower than that of the feather-containing fiber sheets,but the air permeability was greater than that of the feather-containing fiber sheet.In the papermaking process,the addition of papermaking chemicals in the wet end can improve the mechanical strength of the non-woven wallpaper base paper containing feather fiber,the effect of PAE is better than CMC and PEO.The mechanical strength of non-woven wallpaper base paper containing feather fiber can also be improved by beating the softwood pulp fiber.When the non-woven wallpaper base paper with feather fiber was treated by impregnating,the burst index increased by 100%,the tear index increased by nearly 400%,and the mechanical strength of the non-woven wallpaper base paper with feather fiber was greatly improved.However,these three methods have an adverse effect on the air permeability of the paper sheets.The surface hydrophobicity of feather fiber is an important factor affecting the liquid absorption performance of non-woven wallpaper base paper containing feather fiber.The oxidative modification of feather fiber by H2O2 can improve the absorption and brightness of the obtained non-woven wallpaper base paper,and the suitable drying method can also make the paper sheets to achieve better air permeability and absorbency.
