Evaluation And Spatial-temporal Evolution Of The City Competitiveness Of Yunnan Province

The city is the gathering place of human production and life,and is an important component of the nation and region.City competitiveness is a comprehensive concept to measure the strength and weakness of various aspects of a city.Its level determines the development trend of the city,and affects the future development of the country and region.This article takes 16 prefecture-level cities(prefectures)in Yunnan Province as the research object,and selects 23 indicators in five aspects,including economic development competitiveness,social harmony competitiveness,ecological environment competitiveness,technological and cultural competitiveness,and opening up competitiveness.Constructed the evaluation index system of city competitiveness in Yunnan Province,and applied entropy weight extension matter-element model to evaluate the city competitiveness of 16 cities(prefectures)in Yunnan Province in 2011,2013,2015 and 2017,and then defined the two concepts of City Competitiveness Ranking Index and City Competitiveness Regional Index,and the spatial and temporal evolution of city competitiveness in Yunnan Province is analyzed.Finally,according to the conclusions of the study,this article put forward relevant suggestions on improving the competitiveness of Yunnan’s cities in terms of economic development,social harmony,ecological environment,science and culture,and opening up.The research shows that:(1)The comprehensive competitiveness levels of the cities(prefectures)in Yunnan Province generally show the characteristics of “diamond distribution”;(2)Kunming City and Dali Prefecture are the central and sub-central city in Yunnan Province,respectively.And the spatial pattern of comprehensive competitiveness of cities in the province is gradually weakening from the central city and sub-center city;(3)The spatial distribution characteristics of city comprehensive competitiveness in Yunnan Province are generally strong in the east and weak in the west,and strong in the south and weak in the north.Among the various sub-items of competitiveness,the spatial distribution of economic development competitiveness,social harmony competitiveness,technological and cultural competitiveness,and opening up competitiveness basically conforms to this feature,while the spatial distribution of ecological environmental competitiveness is contrary to it;(4)In the four years involved in the study,there has been little change in the comprehensive competitiveness,economic development competitiveness,social harmony competitiveness and technological and cultural competitiveness of the cities in Yunnan Province,while the changes in the ecological and environmental competitiveness and the competitiveness of opening up have changed significantly.The comprehensive competitiveness of 8 cities(prefectures)which include Kunming,Baoshan,Zhaotong,Chuxiong,Wenshan,Xishuangbanna,Dali and Diqing shows an enhance trend,The comprehensive competitiveness of 7 cities(prefectures)which include Yuxi,Lijiang,Pu’er,Lincang,Honghe,Dehong and Nujiang shows a weaking trend,Qujing’s comprehensive competitiveness remains basically unchanged.The east-west gap in the comprehensive competitiveness of cities in the province has gradually widened,and the gap between the north and the south has gradually narrowed.
