Research On The Impact Of Export Trade On Environment In Hubei Province

In recent years,the contradiction between global environmental problems such as the greenhouse effect,ozone hole,the pollution of the marine environment and the destruction of pristine forests and so on,and the development of human society has become more and more prominent.While developing the economy,many countries in the world have caused some irreparable and serious consequences to the environment,and the environmental problems in turn hinder the social and economic development of human beings.In February 2020,temperatures above 20℃ were measured for the first time in Antarctica,and in the same year,the largest wildfire in U.S.history broke out in California.All these frequent disasters caused by environmental pollution by human behavior are undoubtedly a wake-up call for all countries that humankind must reconcile economic development and ecological protection and adhere to a sustainable economic development strategy.As one of the“troika”that drives the economic development of China,export trade has caused some negative impacts on the environment while growing constantly.As one of the key provinces of China’s Central Rising Strategy,Hubei Province has witnessed rapid development of foreign trade since the reform and opening up,but it is still dominated by a rough and loose growth pattern.In recent years,with the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization,the development of trade has brought a series of environmental problems.Hubei Province also occupies an important position among the world’s processing trade production bases,with exports from industries such as machinery,electronics,chemical raw materials,minerals,tobacco and paper making accounting for about 90%of the export trade.The pollution emission caused by the export of processing trade products has worsened the environment of Hubei Province.Environmental pollution has also caused the products of other industries,such as agricultural products,to encounter the restrictions of Green Trade Barriers frequently in the international market.Therefore,studying the environmental consequences of export trade in Hubei Province and solving the problem of environmental pollution caused by the development of export trade are not only in line with the trend of green trade development in international society,but also of great significance to promote the transformation and upgrading of export-oriented industrial structure,improve the structure of export trade and build a“resource-saving and environment-friendly society”in Hubei Province.Based on relevant academic literature and achievements at home and abroad,and guided by classical theories related to foreign trade and trade-environment theories,this paper carries out research on the impact of export trade on the environment in Hubei Province.Firstly,the paper analyzes the current situation of export trade and environmental pollution in Hubei Province,and studies the impact and causes of export trade on the environment;Secondly,the impact of export trade on the environment in Hubei Province is empirically analyzed by constructing a VAR model based on time series and environmental Kuznets curve;Finally,strategic suggestions for the coordinated development of export trade and the environment in Hubei Province are put forward at both government and enterprise levels,in order to provide theoretical support and practical solutions for Hubei Province to develop its green development path.
