Linqing bricks,with over 500 years’ history,have been built so many world cultural heritages such as the Forbidden City,Temple of Heaven,the Ming Tombs and so on because of excellent quality and superb skills.In 1996,Linqing bricks began to produce again.However,the abrasive resistance,toughness and freeze-thaw resistance of the new bricks are inferior to ancient bricks of Ming and Qing Dynasty.This is a common issue for contemporary blue brick firing so that the staff in the Forbidden City and other heritages don’t readily replace the weathered,worn or even broken bricks outdoors.This work aims to improve the quality of contemporary Linqing bricks,inherit the Linqing brick firing technique and ensure the authenticity of the Ming and Qing royal architectural heritages.Providing new reference and clues for the study of the Ming and Qing royal architectural construction history is also the purpose.There are three aspects carried out on the research:First,by historical literature and documents and on-site surveying and mapping,the processes of the Linqing brick firing will be improved and the structure and functional zoning of the Linqing brick kiln will be known.Second,by the element detection of Linqing bricks with clear origin information and blue bricks of other origins,the element information database of each origin’s blue bricks is established.According to the comparison between the test results of different working conditions and the laboratory test results,the standard method for the in-situ element detection of blue bricks is summarized.Use multivariate analysis method to infer the origin of blue brick based on the element information.Finally,the temperature field of brick kiln was established through the temperature detection in the kiln process,and the temperature distribution law inside the brick kiln and the quality of bricks produced at the corresponding parts of different temperatures were summarized,so as to obtain the optimal position,so as to better guide the actual production of Linqing bricks.
