Research On Medical Volunteer Service In Public Hospitals

Since our country is in the important period of medical and health reform,harmonious doctor-patient relationship and medical and health service quality are important issues of concern to all sectors of the society.In the process of treating patients,the hospital should not only focus on the physical healing of patients,but also their psychological and social problems.Volunteer services have become an indispensable part of domestic medical and health system and it is of great practical significance to study related issues of volunteer service in public hospitals.On the basis of a review of the research on medical volunteer service at home and abroad,the study took Zhejiang Z Hospital as the investigation object,and questionnaires were used to investigate related issues of volunteer service.The survey results showed that volunteers’ participation in volunteer service activities lacked continuity and material rewards were an important guarantee to ensure the enthusiasm of hospital volunteers.The overall quality of hospital volunteers needed to be improved,and volunteers’ participation in hospital volunteer service was mainly organized by units or schools.Most patients thought that hospital volunteers needed training while most medical staff assumed that hospital volunteer service was necessary,and the continuity of volunteer service should be strengthened to improve service quality.The main reasons for these problems in public hospitals are as follows: high rate of volunteer turnover,imperfect management mechanism,urgent need of improvement in volunteers’ comprehensive quality and lack of institutional guarantee for management.This paper proposed countermeasures and suggestions for the promotion of public service from four aspects: to strengthen internal and external publicity in society;to improve laws and regulations and the construction of social system by the government,to improve training and learning for volunteers,to strengthen department management and communication within the hospital so as to promote the quality of volunteer services in public hospitals and give full play to their role in the public medical service system.
