ObjectiveWith the improvement of economy and the aging of the population, the prevalence of diabetes is rising rapidly, which has become a major public health problem in China.Starting from the dietary habits in Lingnan area, this paper studies the relationship between the incidence of type 2 diabetes and dietary habits,to provides a basis for prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate 130 patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus who visited the Department of endocrinology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM from September 2020 to February 2021,and 65 non-diabetic patients who visited the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM during the same period were included as the control group. The data of dietary habits were collected by questionnaire. The original data were processed with Excel and SPSS25.0 software.Univariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the risk factors, and the factors with P value less than 0.1 were included in logistic multivariate regression analysis.P value less than 0.05 was statistically significant.Results(1)Among 130 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus,85(65.4%)were male and 45(34.6%)were female. The ratio of male to female was 1.89:1,and the average age was51.93 ± 11.20 years old.The younger onset age was obvious, and 86.9% of them were under 65 years old.(2)The BMI,glycosylated hemoglobin, total cholesterol, triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol of the diabetes group were higher than those of the control group, while the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol was lower than that of the control group, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in uric acid level and history of hypertension between the two groups.(3)Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that high caloric intake, night eating habits, sour taste food intake, bitter taste food intake, salt intake, greasy food intake, fried barbecue food intake and cold drink or ice cream intake were risk factors of type 2diabetes mellitus, while breakfast eating, long nightly fasting duration, physical exercise and good sleep quality were protective factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus.(4)Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that family history,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and sour food intake were risk factors, while spicy food intake and good sleep quality were protective factors.Multivariate logistic regression analysis for men showed that family history, fried barbecue food intake, night eating habits were risk factors.ConclusionFamily history,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and sour food intake were risk factors, spicy food intake and good sleep quality were protective factors. For men, family history, fried barbecue food intake and night eating habits were risk factors. In the process of prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus,it is necessary to guide patients to develop good eating habits.
