Feasibility And Safety Study Of Milli Fire Needle In Improving Skin Thickening Of Morphea

ObjectiveAfter exploring Milli Fire Needle as a treating method for morphea by Vos viewer co-occurrence analysis,we conduct a clinical research to evaluate the effect of Milli Fire Needle in improving skin thickening of morphea.We prospect our outcomes can provide an effective and economic therapy for treating morphea,meanwhile provide foundation for further research.MethodsThis self-control study contains 6 participants,their lesions were divided equally into control side and treatment side.The control side received topical use of 0.1% tacrolimus ointment twice daily,while the treatment side received additionally Milli Fire Needle treatment once a week.The treatment lasted for 3 months.The assessment of LoSCAT and DLQI was conducted each 2 weeks in the first 3 months,and 3 months after the treatment finished,while the adverse events of participants were recorded.ResultsAt the end of the intervention,the sclerotic area and hardness of skin lesions in all patients were improved in varying degrees.In the assessment of LoSCAT,the baseline score of m LoSSI and LoSDI in the control side was 2.5±0.563 and 8.333±0.843,and2.332±0.615、8.5±0.847 in the treatment side.The LoSCAT score of control side decreased to 1.33±0.817(P<0.05)in m LoSSI and 5.67±0.715(P<0.05)in LoSDI,while decreased to 1.17±0.307 and 4.5±0.563(P<0.05)in the treatment side.The improvement of LoSDI in the treatment side was significantly superior comparing to the control side.Two patients with lesions located in the waist reported improvement in the limitation of movement according to the DLQI.ConclusionBoth topical application of 0.1% tacrolimus ointment exclusively and combined with Milli Fire Needle therapy could improve the skin thickening in patients with morphea,and better treating effect was achieved when the treatment were combined.The combined of traditional Chinese therapy Milli Fire Needle and 0.1% tacrolimus ointment can exert therapy effect in treating morphea at stable stage,which worths further study to elucidate its mechanism and clinical efficacy.
