Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of OPT physical therapy, oral administration of Chinese medicine and combination therapy in the treatment of meibomian gland dysfunction, and to evaluate the clinical efficacy of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of different types of meibomian gland dysfunction. Methods: 150 patients(300 eyes)with meibomian gland dysfunction who were admitted to the Eye Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2017 to November 2018 were divided into high-discharge type and low-emission type according to the secretory state. The number table method was divided into different treatment groups, namely OPT treatment group,Chinese medicine treatment group and combination treatment group. All the three groups were treated with sodium hyaluronate eye drops 4 times a day and the meibomian gland massage plus cleansing once a week. The OPT treatment group was treated with intense pulsed light, once every 4 weeks for a total of 3treatments.The traditional Chinese medicine treatment group, namely dry eye No.1 prescription granule preparation, was taken orally, warm water, served in the morning and evening,1 day.The combination treatment group will be combined with the first two treatment methods.Changes in contrast indicators after treatment, including OSDI(Ocular Surface Disease Index Questionnaire)score, meibomian gland secretion score, meibomian gland loss, tear film break time(BUT),lipid layer thickness(LLT),and fluorescein sodium staining(FL)and so on.Results: 1.The gender and age of each group were analyzed. The difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05),so it was comparable.2.The glandular gland secretion score,BUT,LLT and other indicators, there was no significant difference before treatment(P>0.05),the difference of the mean data after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.05),the difference of data was statistically significant.(P<0.05).The mean values of the combined treatment group were better than the other two groups, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the OPT treatment group and the traditional Chinese medicine treatment group(P>0.05).3.There were no significant differences in OSDI scores and FL scores before and after treatment(P>0.05).The difference of data was statistically significant(P<0.05).The mean values of the combined treatment group were better than the other two groups, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the OPT treatment group and the traditional Chinese medicine treatment group(P>0.05).4.There were no significant differences in the loss of meibomian gland before and after treatment, data changes and the values of each group(P>0.05).5.For the three groups of treatments, the mean value of the meibomian gland secretion score of the high-excretion MGD was higher than that of the low-discharge type, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion: 1.Integrative Chinese and Western medicine treatment of MGD can significantly improve OSDI score, prolong BUT,increase LLT,improve meibomian gland secretion and FL score.2.The efficacy of integrated Chinese and Western medicine treatment is significantly better than OPT physical therapy and Chinese medicine prescription.3.Integrated Chinese and Western medicine treatment is better than low-discharge MGD in improving the meibomian gland secretion of high-excretion MGD.
