| Objective:Breastfeeding is important for hospitalized newborns,especially for premature babies.NICU nurse is the first advocate and executor on breastfeeding for hospitalized newborns,which has an important impact on the quality of breastfeeding for hospitalized newborns.The purpose of this research is to investigate the current status and influential factors on NICU nurses about breastfeeding in hospitalized neonates,in 3A grade hospitals of Shandong Province.In this research,the problem in breastfeeding of hospitalized neonates will be found.And the rate of breastfeeding can be improved through putting forward the feasible proposal and promoting the knowledge-attitude-practice(KAP)of breastfeeding in hospitalized newborns for NICU nurses.Methods:A total of 218 NICU nurses from five hospitals in Shandong Province wereselected to conduct a questionnaire survey.SPSS 17.0 software was used to perform data analysis and statistical analysis on the collected questionnaires.Results:(1)The total breastfeeding knowledge of NICU nurses was(56.72±10.92)points,which indicated that the breastfeeding knowledge was lacking.And the age,seniority,working years in NICU,the number of children,and breastfeeding training experience were influencing factors on breastfeeding in hospitalized newborns for NICU nurses.(2)The total breastfeeding attitude to hospitalized newborns of NICU nurses was(35.52±3.89)points,with a score rate of 88.8%,which indicated that the attitude was generally positive.But this study revealed scores on breastfeeding error management items were poor.And the age,seniority,breastfeeding training experience were influencing factors.(3)The total breastfeeding practices on hospitalized newborns of NICU nurses was(120.06±11.38)points,with a score rate of 85.76%.It discovered that initiating breastfeeding,guidance on collecting and delivery for breast milk were poor.And the age,seniority,working years in NICU,breastfeeding training experience were influencing factors.(4)There was a positive correlation between cognition,attitude and practice of NICU nurses on breastfeeding to hospitalized newborns.Conclusion:(1)The breastfeeding knowledge of NICU nurses is lack.The training on breastfeeding should be promoted to improve the breastfeeding cognition of NICU nurses.(2)The research suggests there is a positive attitude towards breastfeeding in hospitalized neonates,but not enough emphasis on breastfeeding.(3)The research reveals there is a high level of breastfeeding practice for hospitalized neonates in NICU,but not enough education for parents of hospitalized neonates,and the ability of breastfeeding health education should be improved.(4)The knowledge,attitude,and practice on hospitalized neonates breastfeeding of NICU nurses are positively correlated,which was consistent with the theory of knowledge-attitude-practice. |
