Autism has long been a rare disease unknown to most people, but in recent years, the incidence of autism is high, the number of children with autism also increased year by year.Due to the special disorders of autistic children in cognition, language, social contact and self-care,parents of autistic children have many challenges in dealing with the development and rehabilitation of children, but parents lack professional social support,so parents of autistic children face greater difficulties and pressure than ordinary parents. From the perspective of social work, this study took Kunming M institution as the site of practical investigation, and with the support of the institution, rich data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation.By referring to the literature, the author turns the operation of parental pressure into three dimensions:parental distress, children with difficulties, and the imbalance of parent-child interaction. The author used the parental pressure scale to measure the pressure of parents, and found that 90% of parents’ parental pressure was higher than the critical high level, and the parents of autistic children suffered the most pressure in the dimension of parental distress.Combining with the institutional resources and the author’s ability, the dimension of parental distress is the focus of this study. In order to relieve parental pressure on autistic children, the author explored the manifestation and source of parental pressure on autistic children, combined with the needs of parents, and carried out 8 group activities by using social support theory and social learning theory. After the end of the service, the service was evaluated by the before-after measurement scale and the group satisfaction questionnaire. The results showed that the score of parents in the dimension of parental distress decreased from46.0 ± 4.00 to 37.8 ± 2.79,indicating that the service was effective.Through this study, the author has the following findings: first, parents of autistic children are under great pressure;Second, group work is beneficial to relieve the parental pressure of autistic children.Third, social support theory can provide effective theoretical support for the development of group work.At the same time, this study also has some limitations, such as lack of ability and experience, limited service time, and failure to link external resources. Finally, the author believes that as a vulnerable group in society, families of autistic children need attention and support from all walks of life, and proposes Suggestions and countermeasures from a professional perspective.Social workers should work with communities to increase support for families with autism;Actively advocate integrated education in cooperation with schools;Establish special parent support units jointly with rehabilitation institutions;Strengthen publicity to create an inclusive and accepting social atmosphere for autistic families; To improve the quality and effect of service by integrating various intervention methods.
