Objective: To observe the safety and effectiveness of electroacupuncture in the treatment of gastrointestinal dysfunction after gastric and colorectal cancer radical surgery,so as to provide reliable evidence about electroaccupuncture supplementery treatment for this disease and to make the application of acupuncture treatment on gastrointestinal dysfunction more standardized. Methods: Sixty-six patients who underwent gastric cancer and colorectal cancer surgery and met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups:electroacupuncture group(EA group)and control group. The control group was treated routinely. The electroacupuncture group was provided with routine treatment plus electroacupuncture treatment, and Zúsānlǐ(ST 36),Shàngjùxū(ST 37),Taìchōng(LR 3)and Gōngsūn(SP 4)were selected. The time of first ventilation, defecation, postoperative meal recovery time, postoperative abdominal distension and adverse reactions of two groups were recorded to evaluate and summarize their clinical healing rates. Results: The first exhaust time, the first anal defecation time, and the postoperative meal recovery time after surgery in the EA group were earlier than those in the control group(P <0.05).The recovery of bowel sounds was better in the electroacupuncture group than in the conventional treatment group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The abdominal distension of both groups were significantly reduced(P <0.01),and the EA group showed better effect(P <0.05).Compared with the control group, the curative effect of the electroacupuncture group was slightly better, but the difference was not statistically significant(P> 0.05),although abdominal pain was significantly relieved in both groups(P <0.05).In terms of effectiveness comparison, the total effective rate of the electroacupuncture group was 93.75%,and the total effective rate of the conventional treatment group was 87.10%.The difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).In addition,no serious adverse events occurred in the electroacupuncture group during the whole study, and there was no discontinuation of treatment due to acupuncture. Conclusion: Electroacupuncture on Zúsānlǐ(ST 36),Shàngjùxū(ST 37),Taìchōng(LR3)and Gōngsūn(SP 4)is safe and effective in treating persistent gastrointestinal dysfunction after gastric and colorectal cancer radical operation. It is better than conventional treatment in shortening the patient’s first postoperative exhaust and defecation time, promoting the recovery of bowel sounds after operation and promoting early resumption of eating as well as improving postoperative abdominal distension.Meanwhile, the clinical healing rate of EA is also obviously better than conventional treatment. However, the data showed that both groups have comparable effects in improving postoperative abdominal pain. The study showed that Electroacupuncture at Zúsānlǐ(ST 36),Shàngjùxū(ST 37),Taìchōng(LR 3)and Gōngsūn(SP 4)can effectively treat gastrointestinal dysfunction after laparoscopic gastric cancer and colorectal cancer radical resection. It is worthy of further clinical promotion and in-depth research. |
